Good Natured
Family Farms participates in the Kansas City Food Circle
Annual April Foods Day.
Most appreciated
by area producers is the Kansas City Food Circle
April Foods Day.
The annual “April
Foods Day” started with a consumer member of the Kansas
City Food Circle, Craig Volland, who wanted to educate
fellow Sierra Club members about the dangers of confined
animal feeding operations. He put together a wonderful
seminar to address the problems of the current food
system, but realized he needed to show how to be
involved in the alternative. The Kansas City Food
Circle’s April Foods Day appeared.
The indoor
festival provides an opportunity for folks to get to
know local producers, enjoy good food, and music by
eco-troubadour, Stan Slaughter. Local chefs demonstrate
cooking with local foods and have samples for
everyone. Grassroots advocacy organizations also set
up booths and workshops on everything from learning to
farm, local food flavors, and the future of our food
system.
We have benefited
so much from the Kansas City Food Circle. The Food
Circle provides information on current issues affecting
our food system, social activities for farmers and
consumers, and moral support. They continue to expand
the circle of influence helping farmers, consumers, our
communities, and our environment. It is wonderful what
this incredible group of people of accomplished and Good
Natured Family Farms is proud to be a part of this
organization.
