 The
Community Mercantile (the Merc) is a full-service
grocery store specializing in organic and naturally
produced food. Uniquely, the store promotes community
ownership by selling memberships in the store. They
currently have over 2,700 members. However, anyone can
shop at the Merc.
In
order to meet the demands of their customers, they
strive to provide an outstanding selection of the finest
and freshest foods in the region by emphasizing natural,
locally produced food and food that is produced in a
sustainable way. They are committed to education and
outreach within the Lawrence community.
Considering their efforts to support local, small family
farms and their dedication to bringing the best the
Midwest has to offer, we are proud that Good Natured
Family Farms products are carried by the Merc.
In addition to a community-minded grocery store, they
also offer special events, catering, a newsletter and
special classes.
