“Oldest continuous strain of standard bred
turkeys in America.”
For 50 years, Frank Reese, Jr., a 4th
generation Kansas farmer, has strived to
preserve the genetic distinction of his turkeys.
For the best taste and genetic purity, all of
their birds come from generations of
free-ranged, naturally-grown birds. These birds
are all of natural breeding and without man’s
interventions of artificial insemination. Their
free-range birds are fed a supplementary
all-natural, vegetarian free diet.
These birds are unique in that they are more
than free-ranged, they have pastures green with
grass to roam and forage and at night, they are
protected from predators by having safe areas to
roost.
You will find Heritage Turkeys have longer legs,
longer breastbones and better quality meat. The
white meat is firmer and the dark meat is darker
than on your typical saleable table bird. This
is because Good Shepard birds are allowed to
run, jump and fly. Their birds are allowed to
grow three times as long as the commercial bird
of today. Nature’s development is complete with
the Good Shepard process. |
