| Our Family of Products
Every product we sell comes from small family farms
within a 200 mile radius of Kansas City. Close to home
means fresher, better tasting food. Our products are
grown by farmers whose livelihood depends upon the
quality of what they produce. This also means superior
flavor and in many cases superior nutrition. The average
meal travels more than 1500 miles today, but
our products reach the store within 48 hours of
picking or processing.
We
believe that producing food close to home helps us
create a food supply that is safe, economically
beneficial and wonderfully flavorful. In order to
maintain those benefits, we must continue to support
local family farms. This support will reduce our
dependence on the fluctuations of the global
marketplace, the prohibitive and increasing costs of
transportation and the outpouring of food dollars to
other countries.
We
produce the only line of local foods available in Kansas
City. We use no pesticides, no growth hormones and no
sub therapeutic antibiotics. Our products are all natural
and raised with the highest quality standards.
Our beef, chicken and pork are raised in Kansas and Missouri and processed there at small, federally-inspected plants. Our farm-fresh brown eggs are hand gathered and delivered to the store by farmers from Lamar and Stanberry, Missouri. Our milk comes from cows milked, processed and bottled on the dairy farm in Firth, Nebraska. Our award-winning Farmhouse cheese comes from cows milked on the farm and made in a plant right on the farm. Our native jellies come from wild fruits picked by hand from the woods and fields around northern Kansas then processed there. Our hot dogs are made from our all natural, dry-aged beef and real hard wood smoked in a plant in Emporia, Kansas.
We
are real people living and working on real farms
producing real, local food.
We
believe once you try our products, you will appreciate
what local foods can mean to you, your family and our
local economy.
